Rest In Peace Edward Steadley

Steadley, Edward L. 96, Passed away peacefully Thursday, December 28th, with his family by his side. He was the loving husband and best friend of 68 years to his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen (Deceased). He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary. His Brothers, Robert and Dana. Ed was the proud Father of Ed (Jo Ann), Marilyn (Jerry), Jeannie(Marty), Ken(Debby) Lori and Bill. Grandfather of 17, Great-Grandfather of 37 and Great-Great-Grandfather of 4. He was a 1941 graduate of Holy Name High school, where he made All Scholastic in Football, Basketball and Baseball. He was inducted in the Holy Name Athletic Hall of Fame in 1980. He had two 4 year scholarship offers for Football from Georgia Tech and the University of Michigan. Before he could decide which school to attend Uncle Sam made the decision for him. He proudly served in the Army, 1941-1945, during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the VFW post 3456. He was also a devoted fan of his Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He liked to watch his Browns, Indians and Cavaliers and of course, his Westerns. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and his dog Bella. He was an avid fisherman and loved traveling on vacation with Mary Ellen to Florida to visit and fish with his son Ed and his family. He was a devoted husband, a great father, and a very special grandfather. He was also a friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace "Babe" 

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 4940 Broadview Rd, Cleveland, OH 44109, at 10:00 AM. Interment Brooklyn Heights Cemetery. Family will receive friends in the TOMON & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 4772 PEARL RD. (N. OF BROOKPARK RD.), CLEVELAND ON TUESDAY, JANUARY, 2, 2018, FROM 3-8 P.M.
