Rest in Peace Joan Dregne

Rest in peace Joan Dregne (nee Kitko), age 80, passed away on June 10, 2022. Cherished daughter of the late Anna and Joseph. Beloved sister of James (deceased) Kitko (Noreen), Maxine Pozna (Ray, deceased) and Clare Grobelny (Richard, deceased). Loving mother to Eric (Lizz). Dear grandmother of Elizabeth Wolterbeek (Kristy). Caring aunt of Scott, Jody, Stacy, Richard, Jimmy, Michelle, Michael, Kevin and Dennis. Great-aunt and great-great-aunt. Joanie was born in Cleveland, deeply rooted in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood for nearly all of her years. She was a 1959 graduate of James Ford Rhodes High School and President of the Rhodes Elvis Club. As a founding member of St. Leo's Parish community, Joanie participated in the vocal choir, bell choir and was involved in various parish functions and committees all of her life. Joanie worked as a secretary for the Elco Corporation, Cleveland State University and the Cleveland Clinic, receiving many awards for her friendly attitude and dedicated work ethic. She cherished all the members of her family, especially her mother, sisters and her son, Eric, whose musical career she encouraged and followed. She was a Sinatra fan, but especially fond of Tom Jones and Johnny Mathis. After retiring, Joan liked to travel and took long road trips with her friends. But best of all, Joan loved to relax in a comfortable robe and slippers, watching classic movies on TV while eating fudge-striped cookies and Mike & Ike candies. She was never one to miss Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune. Joanie will be remembered by everyone she met for her feisty, funny, caring, supportive and loving personality.
