Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season. Masses will be at 8:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service (with distribution of ashes) at Noon. Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence from meat. Fasting applies to Catholics between the ages of 18 and 60, and abstinence applies to Catholics over the age of 14. One full meatless meal and two light meatless meals (which together would not equal the main meal) may be eaten on Ash Wednesday by those who are fasting.
