Bishop Thomas asks for continued prayers and support

Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Cleveland, is asking the faithful for their continued prayers and support as he nears the six-month anniversary of his appointment as the temporary shepherd of the Church in Cleveland.

Bishop Thomas is the head of the adjacent Diocese of Toledo, but he was asked by Pope Francis to take on the additional responsibility of serving as Apostolic Administrator for the Cleveland Diocese last Dec. 28, when Bishop Richard Lennon announced his retirement for health reasons.

The process for recommendations and the selection of a new bishop by the pope is under way. However, according to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, it could take six to nine months before a new bishop is named.
